Jon F. Danilowicz is a retired American diplomat with more than three decades of service in the US Foreign Service. He is currently Editor of South Asia Perspectives, a quarterly magazine on South Asian politics and society, and serves on the board of Right to Freedom, a 501(c)(3) organisation promoting democracy and freedom of speech. He most recently served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Juba, South Sudan.

Earlier, he was Deputy Chief of Mission in Dhaka, Bangladesh, managing a USD 200 million assistance programme and ten US agencies, and Consul General in Peshawar, Pakistan, where he led US engagement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Tribal Areas. He also directed major law enforcement and counternarcotics programmes in Pakistan and Panama and served as Political/Economic Counselor in Bangladesh. Over his 32-year career, Jon held senior leadership roles across South Asia and Latin America and was Diplomat in Residence for New England, mentoring the next generation of US diplomats.
