Mr Idrees Mahsud is a senior Civil Servant and leader in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) with over fifteen years of professional experience spanning administrative, development, diplomatic, and humanitarian fields. He is currently the Member (Disaster Risk Reduction) at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Pakistan.
As a member of the prestigious Civil Service of Pakistan for over 14 years , Mr. Mahsud has held key roles in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice, and served as Second Secretary in the Embassy of Pakistan at Hanoi.
His notable contributions to NDMA include:
- Formulating Pakistan's first-ever National DRR Policy and Ten-year National Disaster Management Plan (2013-2023).
- Representing Pakistan in international forums, including serving as the country's HFA focal person and Co-lead of the DM-CBM of the "Heart of Asia" Istanbul Process.
- Delivering a talk on "Pakistan's Shift from Reactive to Proactive approach in Disaster Management" at a High-Level Panel during the UN ECOSOC Humanitarian Affairs Segment in Geneva.
