Muhammad Faisal Sharif

Muhammad Faisal Sharif is Director (Environment & Sustainability) at Pakistan’s Ministry of Energy (Private Power and Infrastructure Board), supporting initiatives on NDC, green taxonomy, climate finance, carbon markets, and just transition strategies. He is an energy and climate policy practitioner & researcher with 20 years of experience across multinationals, Pakistan’s public sector, and global research networks. He has proven expertise in formulating national energy policies, advancing electricity market reforms, and delivering multibillion dollar renewable and conventional power projects. His work spans sustainable energy transitions, climate governance, and net-zero strategies, integrating technical, policy, and financial solutions to drive impactful change.
He is pursuing a UKRI–ESRC funded PhD at the University of Bath, focusing on the political economy and justice dimensions of energy transitions, SDG7, and climate action in the Global South.
