The Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), under the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)-funded Sustainable Energy and Economic Development (SEED) Programme, invites proposals for Economic Reforms Support (ERS) Grants. These grants aim to support high-quality, policy-relevant work that strengthens evidence-based decision-making in Pakistan’s economic governance landscape.

The ERS Grants are designed to go beyond traditional research by supporting applied policy research, and capacity-building initiatives that directly inform reform design and implementation. The programme prioritises proposals that demonstrate a clear pathway from analysis to action - helping government stakeholders at federal and provincial levels translate ideas into practical, implementable reforms.

Grants of up to PKR 30 million will be awarded through an Accountable Grant mechanism for a duration of six months, with an expected start date of 1 June 2026. Eligible applicants include locally registered not-for-profit organisations such as think tanks, academic institutions, research centres, and NGOs operating in Pakistan.

The call focuses on key areas of economic governance, including:

Macroeconomic stability and fiscal sustainability
Revenue mobilisation and public financial management
Trade, investment, and export competitiveness
Business environment and regulatory reforms
Financial sector and capital market development
Productivity, firm growth, and economic dynamism

SDPI encourages proposals that are feasible, context-aware, and aligned with ongoing policy priorities, particularly those that address institutional constraints, coordination challenges, and implementation bottlenecks.

Applicants may submit up to two proposals (preferably one as Lead and one as Partner), with a strong emphasis on clarity of scope, methodological rigour, and value for money.

All proposals must be submitted electronically by 8th May 2026 (1500 HRS PKT) to: grants@sdpi.org. Detailed submission requirements, templates, and annexes are provided within the RFP document.

This call represents an opportunity for local institutions to play a direct role in shaping and supporting Pakistan’s reform agenda through actionable evidence, practical policy inputs, and sustained institutional engagement.

SDPI reserves the right to cancel, amend, or withdraw this call for proposals at any stage without assigning any reason.
