Timeline: Nov-December 2023
Partner The World Bank
Focal person: Mr. Ahmed Khaver
Objective:
The World Bank has embarked on a wide national consultation program to raise the alarm regarding the state and trajectory of Pakistan’s economic and human development. They want people to know that the economy is in crisis, that poverty is now increasing, that indicators for health, education, and child stunting are now at levels seen in much poorer countries than Pakistan, and that the future of the country is at risk. Vested interests and choices made to protect the interests of those benefitting from the current system have, over the years, prevented Pakistan from reaching its potential. The World Bank believes that Pakistan now has an opportunity to break from these patterns of the past and make choices that will lead to a better future for all Pakistanis
Target audience: Rural communities in all 4 provinces (Swabi, Layyah, Sukkur and Lasbela)
Engagement:
1: Consultations with community elders
2: Consultations with male community members
3: Consultations with female community members
Outcome: Creating enhanced understanding around Pakistan’s economic and human development trajectory. At the same time learning from rural communities about there ideas and vulnerabilities and solutions that they propose for a Brighter Future.
