The manifesto of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will ensure basic needs in the country by increasing spending on Health and Education. This was stated by Senator PPP, Saleem H. Mandviwalla while speaking along with Senator Saeed Ghani on the occasion of Policy Seminar on “PPP’s Manifesto in Relevance of Manifesto in Political Dynamics of Pakistan” organized by SDPI here on Friday.
“The spending on Education would be enhanced to 4.5 per cent of GDP over the five years of government and this step would raise the adult literacy rate from the current 54 per cent to 85 per cent”, he added.
In
the same way, the spending on health would be raised to 5 per cent of total
budget and a national insurance plan would also be developed, he said.
The population growth would be decreased from 2 per cent to 1.6 per cent by
2018 through awareness, education and mandatory services.
Under poverty alleviation measures, an amount of Rs 2000 per month would be paid to each beneficiary instead of Rs 1000.Mandviwalla further said that the budget deficit would be reduced to less than 4 per cent of GDP and targeting a growth rate by 6 per cent by 2016 and 8 per cent by 2018. Moreover, the GDP to savings ratio would be increased to 15 per cent and inflation will to be kept between 6 per cent to 8 per cent.
The debt would be kept under 60 per cent and foreign remittances to be increased and in addition the exports would be doubled.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Saeed Ghani told that the people employment initiative would be launched for creating one million jobs each year and 5 million jobs in the five years.
The energy would be increased to 12000 Mega Watt (MW) through a mix of fuel and USD 36 investments and an approach of small dams and run-of-the-river hydropower will be encouraged and adopted, he added.
“During our next term, we will focus on decreasing transmission losses to be under 15 through prudent policies and vigilant governance and aside from this, the measures would be taken to promote and encourage exploration to increase energy output”, Ghani told.
