ANP to increase Tax-to-GDP ratio to 15pc-2875-News

Awami National Party (ANP) will increase the Tax-to-GDP ratio to a minimum of 15 percent of the GDP, besides brining peace and security in the country if gained power after the upcoming general elections, said Senior Vice President Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel.

ANP s election manifesto Pur-Aman Pakistan promises a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan, said Adeel while addressing at a policy seminar on manifesto of ANP title Relevance of manifesto in political dynamics of Pakistan organised by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) here on Monday.

Elaborating on party manifesto, he said progress is only possible in a peaceful and stable environment, thats why Pur-Aman Pakistan is ANPs slogan for 2013 elections.

ANP is committed to evolve national consensus on extremism with peace and non-violence as its guiding principles.ANP believes in dialogue with those militants who recognise Constitution and writ of state, renouncing  violence,he added.

He said ANP manifesto secure social and economic rights of all federating units, as equal partners. Regarding status of Fata, he said, annexation of Fata to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is possible, but only in accordance with the wishes and expectations of tribal people.

Talking of ANPs commitment to education, he expressed that, ANP government would increase education budget to six percent of the GDP. In last five years of ANP government, nine new universities were established along with campuses in every district of KPK, besides taking other measures like free education to all in public schools and free uniform, textbooks and stipend of Rs 200 to each girl are some of ANPs achievements in promoting education in the province, he added.

Zafar Ullah Khan, Head Centre for Civic Education (CCE) said that ANP manifesto not only retains its secular spirit, but also stand against extremism in every form and manifestation. He was of the view that ANP manifestos symbolizes not only the vision of leadership, but reflects ownership even at grass roots level to workers.

Speaking on social and educational aspects of manifesto, he praised the promise of textbook reforms by removing hate material, which he said, is a commendable initiative absent in other political parties manifestos. He also liked the suggestion of appointment of judges, ambassadors and people on higher posts through parliaments recommendations.
