Policy Simulators

Policy simulators are interactive tools that help users test “what if” scenarios and assess the likely effects of different policy choices. In Pakistan’s context, they are especially valuable for examining trade-offs in areas such as energy, subsidies, education, climate resilience, taxation, social protection, and public finance.

SDPI’s policy simulators translate data and research into practical decision-support tools, enabling policymakers and stakeholders to compare options, estimate costs, identify impacts, and design more targeted, evidence-based policies.

Pakistan Two-Wheeler Fuel Economy & EV Transition Dashboard

This interactive dashboard developed by SDPI enables policymakers, researchers, and energy-sector stakeholders to simulate the financial impact of petrol price changes, targeted subsidies, and electric two-wheeler adoption in Pakistan. Using household fuel consumption and provincial baseline estimates, the dashboard calculates monthly consumer burden, subsidy costs, and potential savings from electric bike transition scenarios. It also compares petrol and electric two-wheeler running costs, helping assess whether EV adoption can reduce household mobility expenses while easing pressure on public finances and national fuel demand.
