ANP promises prosperous Pakistan in manifesto-2878-News

Senior Vice President Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel on Tuesday said that ANP’s election manifesto ‘Pur-Aman Pakistan’ promises a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan. Presenting ANP manifesto at a policy seminar, he said, “progress is only possible in a peaceful and stable environment, that’s why “Pur-Aman Pakistan” is ANP’s slogan for 2013 elections”, he said. He was speaking at a policy seminar on manifesto of Awami National Party under the title “Relevance of Manifesto in Political Dynamics of Pakistan”. 

The event organized by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) was third in the series of seminars, planned to bring manifestos of political parties into discussion and their impact on electorates in the run up to the general elections. Shakeel Ahmad Ramay of SDPI moderated the proceedings.

He said, ANP is committed to evolve a national consensus on extremism with peace and non-violence as guiding principles. “ANP believed in dialogue with militants who recognize constitution and the writ of state and renounce violence”, he added.
He said, ANP manifesto secure social and economic rights for all federating units of Pakistan as equal partners in the federation. Regarding status of FATA, he said, annexation of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is possible but only in accordance with the wishes and expectations of people living in tribal areas.”

Talking of ANP’s commitment to education, he expressed that, ANP government would increase education budget to six percent of GDP. “In last five years of ANP government, nine new universities were established along with campuses in every district of the province.

Also other measures such as free education to all in public schools and free uniform, textbooks and stipend of 200 rupees for each girl are some of the milestones of ANP’s resolve for promoting education in the province,” he added.
Commenting on economic reforms he said, ANP will increase the Tax to GDP ratio from the current low level to a minimum of 15 percent of GDP.

He also informed that ANP government has initiated power projects with the capacity of 2200 MW which would cater energy needs of province in years to come.
Speaking as discussant on ANP manifesto, Zafar Ullah Khan, Head, Centre for Civic Education (CCE) was all praise for ANP manifesto and said that it’s the best manifesto so far when compared with manifestos of other political parties.
He said, ANP manifesto not only retained its secular spirit but also stand against extremism in every form. He was of the view that ANP manifesto symbolizes not only the vision of leadership but reflects ownership even at grassroots level of worker.
