AAWAZ is a five-year voice and accountability programme, funded by the Department for International Development (DFID), UK and managed by leading civil society organizations in Pakistan. The programme seeks to strengthen democratic processes in Pakistan to make them more open, inclusive and accountable to citizens.

The programme covers 45 districts across the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It aims to reduce violence against women and increase safer participation of women and other excluded groups in political and governance arena. AAWAZ also seeks to enhance tolerance of diversity, strengthen the capacity of communities to resolve disputes peacefully without resort to violence, promote collective solutions to local problems, and improve service delivery. The programme includes a consortium of organizations; SDPI, DAI, South Asia Partnership-Pakistan (SAP-PK), Sungi Development Foundation, Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO), and Aurat Foundation. As part of the AAWAZ consortium, SDPI has prepared baseline studies on the three themes covered under the programme, which include:

o Women Political Participation and Violence against Women

o Dispute Resolution, Social Cohesion and Tolerance

o Service Delivery (Education, Health, Water and Sanitation)
