Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan is a distinguished public health professional with extensive experience in health systems, policy advisory, and institutional leadership in Pakistan. Currently serving as a Vice Chancellor at the Health Services Academy (HSA), Islamabad, he has played a central role in shaping national discourse on public health governance, health security, and system resilience.

With a strong background in epidemiology and health policy, Dr. Khan has contributed significantly to strengthening Pakistan’s health systems through evidence-based research and strategic advisory. His work spans key areas such as health systems strengthening, disease surveillance, health workforce development, and public health education. As a health advisor, he has actively engaged with government institutions, development partners, and international organisations, providing technical guidance on policy design, implementation strategies, and health sector reforms. His advisory role has been particularly instrumental during public health emergencies, where his insights have supported informed decision-making and coordinated responses.

Dr. Khan is also widely recognised for his leadership in advancing academic excellence and capacity building in public health. Under his influence, HSA has emerged as a leading institution for training and research, contributing to the development of a skilled public health workforce in Pakistan. He has mentored a large number of professionals and researchers, fostering a culture of critical inquiry and policy-relevant research.

In addition to his institutional role, Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan serves as a Visiting Fellow at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), where he contributes his expertise to interdisciplinary research on health systems, climate resilience, and sustainable development. His association with SDPI strengthens the bridge between research and policy, supporting evidence-informed decision-making at national and subnational levels.
