Dr. Geiser has been a visiting fellow at Sustainable Development Policy Institute, SDPI, Islamabad, Pakistan since 2005. He has been a member of the department of geography's development study group since 1998. Dr. Geiser has been working as a senior researcher and lecturer at the University of Zurich since 1993 and was a lecturer from 1989-1992. Dr. Geiser has worked on several projects in South Asian countries in various capacities. He was Project Backstopper and Consultant (planning, evaluation, backstopping of rural development projects in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India, Thailand, Vietnam, etc.). In 1978 - 1982, he was project leader of the Sri Lanka - Swiss Remote Sensing Project, Colombo, Sri Lanka (for Swiss Development Co-operation SDC). He worked as 1976 - 1977: Project collaborator in the Yemen-Swiss Airphoto Interpretation Project, Sanaa,Yemen Arab Republic (for SDC) in 1976-1977. Dr. Geiser holds a M.Sc. Geography, from the University of Zurich with regional focus on Pakistan (esp. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Switzerland, India (esp. Kerala). He also holds a Ph.D. in Human Geography.
