Donor/Partner: Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES)

Location: Pakistan

Project Lead: Zainab Naeem

Team Members: Zainab Naeem, Nelam Pari, Amna Urooj, Ebadat Ur Rehman Babar, Umar Farooq, Ihtesham Ul Haq

Unit Name: Ecological Sustainability & Circular Economy

Project Overview:
This project aims to support the development of Pakistan’s first National Circular Economy (CE) Policy, aligned with international standards on sustainable resource use and waste management. Funded by IGES under its broader initiative to enhance resource efficiency and waste governance in South Asia, the project will deliver technical recommendations to mainstream circularity into national planning and policy frameworks.

Through research, stakeholder engagement, and international best practice reviews, the project will contribute to a strategic shift away from the linear "take-make-dispose" model, promoting closed-loop systems that minimize waste and maximize economic and environmental benefits. The CE policy will target key sectors such as industry, agriculture, construction, and municipal waste, and promote sustainable business models, eco-innovation, and inclusive green jobs.
