Sustainability and Resilience Program aims to look at resilient development through the lens of people’s centric governance of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Urban Development, and efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The concept of resilient development is gaining momentum as a discipline of work that connects both humanitarian and development Programmed to build resilience of those at risk of multiple shocks; be they disasters, climate hazards, socio-economic conditions, and conflicts. Global discussions suggest that the goal of sustainable development cannot be achieved if development is not resilient to these shocks and risks.
Keeping this in view, RDP involves programmatic activities, research, capacity building, policy influencing, networking, policy outreach, communications, and campaigns. In addition to some new initiatives such as DRR and resilience work and Urbanization, the Programme supplements and supports SDPI’s existing work on climate change, SDGs, and other rights-based initiatives by looking at them through the prism of people-centric governance and participation across gender.
