Research Associate

Ebadat Ur Rehman Babar holds an MS in Environmental Sciences from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and has extensive experience in the development sector. His research interests include Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction, GHG Inventory Accounting, and AI & Sustainability. Ebadat’s expertise covers technical research, climate data analysis, and remote sensing.

His academic research was focused on "Enhancing Drought Monitoring and Risk Evaluation Systems using Multi-Indices, Remote Sensing, and Stochastic Modelling: A Case Study of South Punjab, Pakistan,". The research integrated multi-index analysis, remote sensing, and stochastic modelling to enhance drought prediction and early warning systems, particularly for South Punjab.

Currently at SDPI, Ebadat is engaged in IIED’s project aimed at analysing and enhancing adaptation strategies for social protection. He is also contributing to UNEP-funded projects, including a feasibility study on promoting plastic recycling for a circular economy in Pakistan and the development of Pakistan's National State of Environment Report 2025.

Previously, Ebadat has contributed to several high-impact bilateral and national-level projects in areas such as climate resilience, Nature-based Solutions, waste management, air pollution, disaster management, and corporate sustainability. He has collaborated with organizations including the World Bank, UNDP, USAID, PFAN, MNFSR, and EPA. His expertise includes technical research, climate data analytics, and remote sensing. He has also facilitated technical training sessions on the application of AI, data analysis, and remote sensing for research purposes.

Beyond his professional endeavours, Ebadat actively participates in community service initiatives and has led several successful projects. He engages with stakeholders through workshops, training sessions, and consultative processes to build capacity in climate adaptation, disaster risk management, and sustainable development practices. Ebadat is also a member of prestigious organizations and research groups such as Rotary International, C-CARGO, YOUNGO, and Common Purpose.
